CtoC ’25 - February Newsletter and Information

This is the first TWITTS CtoC ’25 Newsletter and Information.  It is for anyone thinking about riding in this year’s run - or taking part by supporting riders or the organisers.

If you’ve taken part previously, you’ll know what it’s all about and how much fun it can be.

If you are coming fresh to the CtoC run, here’s an outline:

The Run, Dates, Route, Entry and Distance

CtoC’ 25 is an official club run of The National Autocycle & Cyclemotor Club - for cyclemotors, autocycles, mopeds and other small capacity motorcycles.

It will take place on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June.

The route passes through some of the most scenic parts of County Durham and Cumbria including the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Lake District National Park.

There’s an overnight stop, dinner and social event at Alston, in Cumbria, which is a picturesque town in the North Pennines, reputed to be the highest market town in England.

Entry to CtoC ’25 is open to NACC members and to non-members.

There is no minimum age restriction on the bikes (or a maximum age for riders for that matter!).

Supporters of riders are welcome to follow their own rider/s and to provide assistance to them - and to help other riders or the organisers, if this is required.

Supporters are also very welcome to join us at the dinner and social event at Alston.

The Start, the Distance and the End Venue

CtoC ’25 starts from Crimdon Beach, just north of the town of Hartlepool in the north east of England, which looks out onto the North Sea.  It ends at the harbour in Whitehaven, on the north west coast, which overlooks the Irish Sea.  So it’s coast to coast!

The overall distance of the run is about 145 miles, with planned stops along the way for refreshments, etc.

The end of the run is at the Beacon Museum in Whitehaven, where there is also a café, and where the harbour provides a very suitable background for end-of-run photos and an awards presentation ceremony.

Overnight Accommodation

Riders and supporters may want to use overnight accommodation near the start and end venues. This is not a problem at the start and finish –there are plenty of hotels and B&Bs at Hartlepool and Whitehaven (plus a camp/caravan site close to Crimdon).

But Alston is smaller and is a busy tourist venue in summer – so early booking is very advisable.

To help with this, the NACC TWITTS’ Section has arranged with The Alston House Hotel for a number of its rooms to be reserved for CtoC only bookings on the night of 21st June.

But these rooms will only be held available for us until 1st March.  So if you want one, time is quite limited.  And if you do book one of these rooms, please also tell the hotel if you will be joining us for the dinner that we will have there.

To make a booking you must make clear that you are riding in or supporting CtoC’25.  The telephone number of the Alston House Hotel is: 01434 382200.
